    Employee Assistance Center (EAC) understands that employers must be proactive in responding to organizational change, societal forces, and the evolving marketplace. We help your business improve competitiveness by providing training that helps improve the well-being and productivity of managers and staff. In addition to the regional training schedule below, we offer training programs that meet your specific goals and objectives.     Addressing Performance Issues

    This program is for managers and supervisors.  The emphasis is on confronting and coaching people with poor performance.  We give the manager skills to work with in order to help people through life issues.  In addition, we build a step-by-step process for managers to work with their human resource department, EAC, and the employee to achieve success in whatever issue they may be experiencing.

    Communicating with Others

    The “Communicating with Others” program combines Interpersonal Communication and Conflict Management principles and examines different communication styles that impact effective communication.  Participants will have the opportunity to practice both their  confrontation and responding skills through a number of different “hands on” exercises and case studies.  To understand each individual’s conflict resolution skills, a conflict resolution assessment is used to identify the participant’s  most effective communication style.  This is a very interactive program with helpful take-aways.

    Coping with Change

    Change is inevitable.  We have redesigned this program to inform participants of our natural resistance to change and how we can work through the change process.  We review how personal responsibility and engagement in the change process can assist us all to move through change more effectively.  Participants will learn how to prepare for change and how to better manage the stress of change.

    Dealing with Difficult People

    Recognizing the differences of each other at work can get in the way of productivity.  In the Dealing with Difficult People program, we seek to understand our responsibility to listen, adapt, and work alongside others who are very different from ourselves.  We review seven distinct personalities and how we can learn to work with people different than ourselves for a more productive work environment.

    Drug Awareness

    The Drug Awareness program is designed to give supervisors and managers the skills they need to identify substance abuse problems in the workplace, determine the appropriate steps for an effective intervention, and practice the conversation that will take place with the individual.  The materials outline the symptoms and behaviors exhibited by individuals who are affected by substances.  This program can be very helpful to achieve a drug free workplace.

    Financial Management (The basics of budgeting)

    In today’s challenging economic climate, many employees are struggling with their  finances.  We have revised this program to focus on basic budgeting principles.  Information about money management is reviewed including:  discussing values (what is the most important to an individual), setting goals, determining income and expenses, examining spending, reviewing credit, and developing a budget.  Participants are given many worksheets and tools to help assist in managing their finances.

    Generational Diversity

    Today, there are four generations in the workforce that are distinctly different from   each other.  Each generation embodies different values that can make working together difficult.  In this seminar, participants learn key characteristics of each generation, examine how work behavior is affected, and apply case studies to help understand how to work with different generations.

    Harassment Awareness

    The harassment program can be for managers or team members. The program focuses on the importance of understanding the ramifications of harassment, sexual or otherwise in the workplace. We give participants a quiz to review their understanding of the key laws we review in the program. A very important program and necessary for all employees to understand today’s law in the area of harassment.

    Living Healthy

    The Living Healthy class is new for 2010.  This class focuses on basic information related to weight, nutrition, exercise, and stress.  Participants are given tips and resources to assist in creating and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.  In the end, it is our hope that participants will learn that a healthy lifestyle can be achieved by making one conscious, positive choice, day after day.

    Preventing Burnout

    The Preventing Burn-out program is designed to help people understand the difference between stress and burn-out.  The program addresses serious negative consequences of burn-out and fatigue.  Participants will have the opportunity to assess their own situation and the extent of their fatigue.  The class will look at action steps to assess how they would incorporate them into their own lives.   The basics of stress management and how to effectively manage stress that is in life is also discussed.

    Smoking Cessation

    The Smoking Cessation information program is designed for participants who are interested in quitting smoking.  The program is based on the “FreshStart” smoking cessation program developed by the American Cancer Society.  This one hour session explains the steps to quitting, outlines different Nicotine Replacement therapies available in the market today, and helps participants understand their obstacles.  It also encourages participants to schedule an individual appointment with an EAC counselor to further assist the participant through the smoking cessation program.

    Stress Management

    The Stress Management program focuses on how to manage and deal with stress.  Stress is always present and working in our lives.  It is the effective management of the stress that keeps us healthy.  Topics addressed include the negative aspects of stress and the impacts of stress, both physically and mentally.  This is a full hour of learning and active participation.

    Surviving the Teen Years

    In this training, you will: (1) learn about “normal” adolescent behavior, (2) learn how to handle typical teenage rebellion, (3) learn effective communication and parenting techniques, and (4) learn to identify warning signs for adolescent depression and substance abuse.  The teen years are a difficult time for any parent.  While no training can make these years “easy,” this workshop offers tools and  insights that can help you and your teenager(s) “weather the storm.”

    Winter Blues

    Ever notice how a gray, gloomy day can make you feel tired and depressed, but a sunny day can leave you feeling cheerful and energized?  Well, there is a scientific reason for this caused by insufficient exposure to sunlight.  Because there are so many gray, gloomy days in the late winter/early spring.  This training helps employees develop useful strategies to overcome these common symptoms.

    Work/Life Balance

    It is commonly believed that a healthy, balanced employee is a productive employee. The Work/Life Balance program has been fully revised for 2010. This class will discuss work/life balance issues and the importance of having a work/life balance. Participants will have the opportunity to assess their current situation and learn tips and ideas to help achieve the balance they desire.
